Children’s Cancer Partners Welcomes New Board Chair & Members

Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and their families, is pleased to announce the appointment of Hammond Edwards as the new Board Chair and the addition of five distinguished members to its Board of Directors.

Hammond Edwards, a Senior Vice President, Senior Commercial Lender, and Business Development Officer at OPTUS Bank, based in Columbia, SC, brings a wealth of experience to his role as Board Chair. Having served on the Board for three years, Edwards also has more than 35 years of banking experience and brings a deep commitment to philanthropy and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

“I am thrilled to take the helm of this incredible, two-state organization which does what no other nonprofit for children with cancer does. Children’s Cancer Partners is truly unique in providing travel, food, and lodging so that every child has equitable access to the best cancer treatment possible, as well as comprehensive support,” Edwards said.

Joining Edwards on the Board are five outstanding individuals, each bringing a unique set of skills and experiences to strengthen the organization’s mission further:

  • Rita Allison of Duncan, SC, serves as a Special Programs Coordinator for Springs Industry Lyman Complex. Allison’s expertise in program coordination and community engagement, as well as her decades of experience as a member of the SC House of Representatives, will be invaluable in advancing the goals of Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
  • Rebecca Barnett of Spartanburg, SC, is a Corporate Strategy professional at Milliken. With a background in strategic planning, Barnett will contribute valuable insights to enhance the organization’s strategic initiatives.
  • Jennifer Bosley of Wilmington, NC, is a Tax Partner at KPMG. Bosley’s financial expertise and commitment to community service align seamlessly with the organization’s objectives.
  • Stuart Ruffin of Spartanburg, SC, is a community leader and former CFO of RDI USA, Inc. Ruffin’s leadership experience and financial acumen will be instrumental in guiding the organization’s fiscal responsibilities.
  • Mia Sloney of Boiling Springs, SC, serves as a Director at Merrill Lynch. Sloney’s financial expertise and dedication to community service make her a valuable addition to the Board.
