Ways to Give

Make your gift to support Carolina children battling cancer go further.

Your legacy. Your choices. We can help.

Now is an excellent time for you to leverage charitable tax benefits before the end of the year while supporting Carolina children battling cancer. Below are some reminders for contributing stock or cash and a selection of funds to help make your gift count:

Imagine a child completing their cancer journey because of you! Perhaps one or more children, every year. What a wonderful way to be remembered. So when completing your estate plan, leave room for something special by arranging for an endowed fund, bearing your name or that of a loved one, whose income each year can support such things. We would be pleased to share ideas, without obligation. Contact Dania Beck, Director of Philanthropy, at [email protected] or call her at 864-582-0673.

  • Give Through the Mail

You can mail a check directly to our Spartanburg office:

    Children’s Cancer Partners

    900 S. Pine St, Ste F.,

    Spartanburg, SC 29302

  • Gift of Stock

    • Stock gifts must be received into CCP’s brokerage account on or before December 31 to qualify for the current tax year. Transfer time varies by financial institution, so it is helpful to plan ahead.
    • For the most efficient delivery of stock, they should direct their broker to deliver securities to the CCP brokerage account at Morgan Stanley. Our asset delivery instructions provide details.
    • Important: To transfer shares to our stock gifts custodian, please notify Morgan Stanley, c/o Mary Crowley. You can contact Mary Crowley at 864-594-3468 or [email protected].
  • Give Through a Foundation

CCP has established funds at the several community foundations listed below, and you may make your gift ($1,000 minimum) through them. One may be local for you, and since we support local children, it’s a “two-for-one” way to give locally.

When you make your CCP gift to any of these partners, please designate it to the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolina Fund.

  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you are over 70½ and have an IRA, you can also make charitable gifts by making a charitable distribution directly from your IRA. You must be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution. You may distribute any amount up to $100,000 per tax year ($200,000 for a husband and wife, if both are over 70½ and each has an IRA with over $100,000), subject to reduction if you made tax-deductible contributions to a traditional IRA during the tax year. You may distribute from either a traditional IRA or a “rollover” IRA. Distributions may not be taken from an ongoing SEP, an ongoing SIMPLE 12 IRA, 403(b) plans, 401(k) plans or other similar retirement plans.

  • Leave a bequest from your IRA

One method is to open a new IRA rollover account from an existing IRA account. Transfer the amount, e.g. $10,000, $25,000 or $100,000, you would want paid to CCP upon your death and name them as the IRA beneficiaries. During your lifetime you have complete control over this account; nothing would change for you. Upon your death the funds in that account would help brave cancer kids, completely tax free for your heirs or beneficiaries.

Note: The funds must be transferred directly from the IRA custodian to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. The IRS indicates that it’s acceptable procedure for the IRA custodian to make a check payable to the charitable organization and let the IRA owner deliver the check to the charity. The maximum amount that can be donated through a qualified charitable distribution is $100,000 per IRA owner as of 2020. This means that each spouse can donate $100,000 if you’re married, but you can’t “share” the limit. In other words, one spouse can’t give $125,000 and the other $75,000. You’re each separately subject to the $100,000 limit.
