Children’s Cancer Partners Welcomes Joe Conway to the Development Committee

Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas (CCP) is thrilled to welcome Joseph “Joe” L. Conway to our Development Committee! Joe is a dynamic and seasoned executive leader known for his passion for driving transformational change and fostering community impact, but his calling to help CCP is personal.

“People engage more passionately when it hits close to home. Volunteering with the CCP Development team fuels my passion because I’ve been where the families we help are. My son, Timothy, faced his own trial at 18 months old, and now he’s 26. When I speak as a parent, it’s from personal experience. I remember those who helped us, and I want to pay it forward.”

Joe currently serves as the HCS Manager for Equity & Inclusion at UNC Health, where he leads initiatives to promote health equity, create an inclusive workforce, and engage with the community. He also founded and serves as Chief DEI Investor at ABIDE of NC LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to awareness, belonging, inclusion, diversity, and equity to achieve equality and education in bias mitigation for professionals and organizations.

Previously, Joe was the Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer for the City of Wilmington, NC, where he significantly increased the City Municipal Equality Index (MEI) score and secured grants to advance language access. His tenure at Novant Health|New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) saw him develop health equity initiatives and save substantial costs through strategic programs.

Joe has served on multiple boards, including Step Up Wilmington, WHQR Public Radio, Voyage of Wilmington, the Community Boys and Girls Club, and one the Founding Members of the Northside Food Co-op. He has also been a group member of 100 Black Men and a mentor in the Student Success Academy.

Joe is married to his wonderful wife, Tiffany, with whom he has shared over three decades of love and partnership. Together, they have raised four accomplished adult sons who continue to make them proud.

Welcome to CCP, Joe! Thank you for helping our children.
