Major Gifts Officer - Western NC & Upstate SC
Location: Hybrid-Remote

Children’s Cancer Partners (CCP) provides vital resources, community, and compassion to children with cancer and their families. Our mission is to walk alongside families throughout the childhood cancer journey, offering financial support, guidance, and hope until the child turns 21. Operating across 146 counties in North and South Carolina, CCP touches the lives of approximately 2,500 families annually, ensuring that no family faces this journey alone.
Position Overview
The Major Gifts Officer strengthens CCP’s mission by building relationships with donors and securing major gifts of $5,000+. As a passionate CCP advocate, the officer communicates the organization’s impact to inspire support from individuals, civic groups, and community partners. The position fosters a culture of giving among board and staff, supports the Board Development Committee, and helps identify future board members. The officer also promotes planned giving, advances donor retention efforts, and ensures communications and fundraising practices align with CCP’s philanthropic vision and financial policies.
This position is hybrid-remote and requires travel 25-50% of the time, mostly day travel with occasional overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Major Gifts Management
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Advancement in all aspects of individual giving, with a primary focus on cultivating in-person meetings with current and potential donors and developing major gifts ($5K+).
- Support all resource development activities and donor communications.
- Promote and solicit planned gifts when appropriate.
Passion for Mission
- Communicate CCP’s story effectively with individuals, civic organizations, and other potential stakeholders, invoking enthusiasm for and commitment to the organization’s lifesaving mission.
- Establish and pursue ambitious revenue generation goals.
Support Board & Staff Engagement in Fundraising
- Support and encourage a culture of giving among the board and staff.
- Build relationships and provide thoughtful support to CCP board members, donors, and volunteers as appropriate.
- Assist with the management and coordination of the work of the Board Development Committee.
- Help identify future board members and cultivate their interest.
Manage Donor Cultivation and Stewardship Functions
- Lead the planning and execution of successful mission-focused, donor-centered events, including in-home Parties for a Purpose in assigned territory.
- Advocate for support through third-party events and online fundraising efforts.
- Research, recommend and implement donor relations and retention programs.
- Ensure timely, accurate and courteous communication with funders/donors.
- Collaborate with the Director of Advancement, Executive Director and the Director of Communications/Marketing in the design and execution of the CCP philanthropic vision and Sustainability Plan.
- Lead with integrity and perform duties to ensure that CCP’s financial policies are followed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
We value drive, adaptability, and teamwork. While prior experience in every area is helpful, we encourage all applicants with a strong technology aptitude, quick learning ability, and passion for CCP’s mission to apply.
- Five or more years’ experience in major gifts fundraising roles.
- Proven track record of direct donor solicitations of $5k or more.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of current fundraising best practices and trends.
- College degree or experience equivalency.
- Means and ability to travel throughout assigned territory, occasionally to other parts of North and South Carolina, with some overnights and weekends.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and with donor software system, preferably Blackbaud eTapestry and Classy.
Benefits & Compensation:
- Salary 70,000 or higher, depending on experience
- Healthcare: 90% employer-paid
- Paid Time Off: 18 days/year plus 11 holidays and 1 flex holiday
