Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas (CCP) is thrilled to introduce nine outstanding individuals joining our Board of Directors. Each brings a unique blend of expertise, passion, and dedication to our mission of supporting families facing childhood cancer.
Tom Hash, MD – Raleigh, NC
Dr. Tom Hash, a former CCP parent, is the Senior Medical Director of Medical Affairs at Replimune, focusing on innovative cancer immunotherapies. Inspired by his 16-year-old son’s successful treatment at Duke for a brain tumor and Proton Therapy at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2021, Tom is committed to giving back and has been a steadfast supporter of CCP.
Joe Conway, MHCM, CDM – Wilmington, NC
Joe Conway works for UNC Health and brings a deep understanding of healthcare leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion. A former hospital administrator and pastor, Joe’s journey with childhood cancer began with his own son’s survival. Joe has been an active member of CCP’s Development Committee since 2024, leveraging his extensive network to expand CCP’s reach.
Elizabeth Morris – Inman, SC
Elizabeth Morris is a devoted advocate for CCP, with a personal connection to cancer and a strong HR executive background. She actively serves on the employee benefits ad hoc committee and is a frequent participant in CCP events, embodying a hands-on approach to supporting our mission.
Kim Mode – Spartanburg, SC
As Area President of United Community Bank and Board Chair of the Appalachia Development Corporation, Kim Mode has extensive experience in finance and small business development. A community leader, Kim is an ideal candidate for CCP’s finance committee, where her expertise will strengthen our financial stewardship.
Nick Pavia – Charleston, SC
Nick Pavia, a Financial Advisor at Commonwealth Financial Management, is an engaged CCP supporter and Development Committee member. As a sponsor of the 2024 Holiday Spectacular, Nick has demonstrated his dedication to CCP’s success and brings a robust network spanning Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Charlotte, and Raleigh.
Heather Shanahan – Raleigh, NC
Heather Shanahan serves as Senior Director of Endowments & Foundations at CAPTRUST, with a track record of impactful nonprofit leadership. A former Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill, her nonprofit expertise is invaluable as we expand our impact.
Wendy Kopp – Charleston, SC
Wendy Kopp, Senior Vice President at Fifth Third Bank, brings extensive experience in banking and philanthropy. Her leadership roles at Trident United Way, including chairing the Search Committee for their Executive Director and six years of board service, position her as a valuable advocate for CCP’s mission in the Lowcountry.
Marlene McClain – Anderson, SC
Marlene McClain is a champion for cancer causes and Director of Victim Services for the Anderson Sheriff’s Department. With experience leading a capital campaign and serving on multiple nonprofit boards, Marlene’s strong connections and passion for supporting families affected by cancer make her an exceptional addition to CCP.
