Dr. Kim Deering has joined Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas as the new Kidz in Lids Program Director.
With more than 30 years of experience working with children, including most recently as an elementary principal and professor at USC Upstate, Dr. Deering is excited to work with schools with students of all ages to help support the mission of Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas.
“I am thrilled to be on the Children’s Cancer Partners team and at the helm of this life-changing program,” Dr. Deering said. “This is an opportunity for schools to come together to truly make a difference. It’s no extra work for administrators but makes a huge impact on our children.”
Dr. Deering attended the University of South Carolina, receiving a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, an Ed.S. as an Educational Specialist, a Master’s in Social Work, and a BA in Psychology. In addition, she received her Master’s in Administration and Supervision from Converse College.
The Kidz in Lids Program is an easy way for schools with children of any age to support their schoolmates and neighbors by paying a dollar to wear a hat at school. Those dollars significantly help to improve the lives of the 2,100 children in the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas program. Our nonprofit provides transportation, lodging, and meals for Carolina families whose children are receiving treatment for cancer across the country. By hosting a Kidz in Lids Day at your school, your students learn empathy, teaching them that supporting their friends and classmates with cancer is not only the best thing to do but the right thing to do.
