Meet Harold

Harold, from Raleigh, North Carolina, enjoys going outside, going to the park, camping, trips to the beach and mountains, and swimming in the pool. He is also very interested in musical instruments. His favorite foods? Tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon! A healthy appetite!

“He is a loving child and so sweet. When we go out, he likes to introduce himself with his name and talk with other adults and kids quickly without knowing them yet,” his mom tells us.

Harold was diganosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 2.

Unlike most kids, Harold had a hard start to life. At just age 2, in April 2022, Harold was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This was the start of an incredibly hard journey for Harold and his family. He immediately began chemotherapy treatment at UNC Children's - North Carolina Children's Hospital. “Thanks to God, Harold has tolerated his treatment very well. He is a very strong boy and right now he is in the maintenance phase,” says mom.

But like most children with cancer, his treatment affected the entire family. “The day that we received the news, it hit us hard since Harold is an only child. We knew and felt that this was out of our hands. As parents, we made the decision that I would be dedicated to caring for him completely and only dad would work. There have been very difficult moments of anguish, but we have always maintained the faith, believing in his full recovery,” his mom painfully describes.

However, thanks to Children’s Cancer Partners, Harold is receiving critical support he and his family needs.

“The organization has done a lot to help. They have supported us with meal costs, reimbursements for miles to every doctor visit and diapers for Harold. Thank you to everyone who works hard and the sponsors for their support during this process,” Harold’s mom describes.

They have especially appreciated the shoes supplied to them from Children’s Cancer Partners in December 2022, thanks to a partnership between Children's Cancer Partners and A Champion's Shoes. His mom tells us, “they are beautiful and it is a gesture that my son loved and we appreciate with all of our hearts.”

“No one is alone. There are always people with big hearts arriving along the way with words of encouragement, telling you everything is going to be okay and soon this difficult process will pass. They continue believing in and helping the children because they need it," shares Harold's mom.
